F&BCS offers code consulting services for peer review of systems designed by clients’ engineers and provides detailed review and criticism based upon our extensive experience and knowledge of the New York City Building and Fire Codes.
F&BCS can send qualified personnel to pre-inspect the fire alarm system installed to verify compliance with the contract plans and the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). In addition, F&BCS will prepare a written punch-lists including all deficiencies found during our pre-inspection for a client’s contractor to address and correct prior to the inspection conducted by the New York City Fire Department. This will insure the best possible outcome at the time of the FDNY inspection and help insure that the fire alarm system does not hold up the temporary construction sign-off at the NYC Department of Buildings required for the initial Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) for the building.
F&BCS can send qualified personnel to be present at the inspection of the fire alarm system conducted by the New York City Fire Department Electrical Unit Inspectors. F&BCS presence will ensure that the inspection goes as smoothly as possible, while also addressing any issues or concerns the inspector may have. Additionally, F&BCS in-house expeditor can follow up with the New York City Fire Department to ensure that the final Letter of Approval is issued in a timely manner. If any unexpected issues arise in the process, F&BCS can identify and address it in a timely manner.
If an FDNY Letter of Defect is issued at the FDNY inspection F&BCS can provide an affidavit which will detail how each item on the Letter of Defect has been or is being addressed and request that this affidavit be used in lieu of the FDNY Letter of Approval for the initial temporary construction sign-off. Additionally, F&BCS will have the affidavit signed and sealed by our licensed and professional engineer and either provide it to your expediter to get approved by the NYC DOB Borough Commissioner or schedule a meeting with the Borough Commissioner to have the affidavit approved to use in-lieu of the FDNY Letter of Approval required for the temporary construction sign-off required for the initial TCO of the building.
